Please Help us to keep St John the Baptist Bircle at the Heart of our (YOUR) community
This is an unashamed direct plea for your financial help.
St Johns is so much more than a building, it is a place of faith, comfort, peace and reflection for individuals, families. It is open to all as a part of the heart of our local community, a place where people can come together in times of joy, sadness or quiet reflection. It is where memories are made and everyone is made to feel welcome.
Today we are having to plead for your help to enable us to protect and maintain this special place, to ensure it remains open and available for this and future generations.
Sadly St Johns is facing some urgent and costly repairs. Our oil tank needs replacing, we have no heating until we can get this fixed. As we approach the winter this will make it difficult for a number of our parishioners to be able to safely use the church facilities. Grants are available, if we could install ECO systems, this is not a viable option for the church given its listed status, being built on solid rock and it needing to be totally insulated from draughts etc.
Some of the stained-glass windows are in need of urgent repair, being a listed building we have to have this done by conservators and this is extremely costly, but we have a responsibility to preserve them before further deterioration causes even greater damage and expense.
Along with these essential repairs we daily face the ongoing challenge of raising enough funds for running and general maintenance costs to enable us to keep the doors open to all who value, need the church.

Whether you attend church regularly, have a personal connection to it, treasure its history, enjoy its beauty, or simply believe that our community deserves to have a church that remains open and welcoming, we would be incredibly grateful for your support.
The church is currently managed and maintained totally by volunteers, our Reverend ( Rev Janet Lyessjko) is a Self-Supporting Minister – she does NOT get paid but works tirelessly on behalf of St Johns and the parish.
We want our church to remain a place that all can turn to whenever they need a place for prayer, reflection, comfort, remembrance, celebration or care, We want the doors to open for those who seek a place of peace in a busy world, for those experiencing difficult times, or are in need of friendship.
EVERY donation no matter how small will make a difference. Contributions from local residents, families, businesses, visitors will help us to work towards getting the repairs completed and hopefully go towards building a secure future enabling us to be there for future generations.

Bircle Art and Craft Group and games group meet in church on Mondays 1pm -3pm.
We enjoy a variety of crafts, including, knitting, crochet, sewing, paper crafts , sketching and painting and a board game, or two, to play.
It’s good to meet up, relax, chat and share ideas and adventures whilst enjoying having a cup of tea or coffee and biscuits.
We ask for a donation of £2 per session to help cover our heating costs.

A Prayer for Ukraine
God of peace and justice,
we pray for the people of Ukraine today.
We pray for peace and the laying down of weapons.
We pray for those who fear for tomorrow,
that your Spirit of comfort would draw near to them.
We pray for those with power over war or peace,
for wisdom, discernment, and compassion to guide their decisions.
Above all, we pray for all your precious children, at-risk and in fear, that you would hold and protect them.
We pray in the name of Jesus, the Prince of Peace.
